The Blair Witch Project

YEP - THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT HAS BEEN AND GONE.............IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED - BUT THIS IS OLD NEWS NOW.........I've left these pages online anyways because people still seem to enjoy visiting them.

Blair Witch 2 - BIG MISTAKE Plot Outline from Artisan for Blair Witch II - Book of Shadows - hmmmmm that was an interesting MISTAKE!!!!!!:
Blair Witch 2 delves deeper into the legend of the infamous Blair Witch and the unspeakable evil wrought in the Black Hills near Burkittsville, Maryland.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 takes place in present-day Burkittsville, after the events chronicled in The Blair Witch Project. Four young people have signed up for a tour of the Black Hills, the latest Blair Witch-inspired moneymaker dreamed up by enterprising local Jeff Donovan. They set up camp near the foundation of the house that belonged to Rustin Parr, the old hermit who was hanged for the murders of seven children, a crime that bore the mark of the Blair Witch. In the morning, the campers awake with no memory of having gone to sleep and five hours stolen from their lives. They return to Jeff's residence Burkittsville, an abandoned warehouse, to try and piece together what happened. But the strange occurrences haven't ended with that night, as legend and reality become frighteningly entwined. Bizarre symbols appear on their bodies, children's plaintive crying is heard, phantasmagoric visions confound their eyes, and fleeting apparitions suggest the villainy of the distant past. No longer sure what is real and what is imagined, the group starts to realize that when they left the woods, they didn't leave alone ...

As an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose work often explores the ambiguity of the human condition, director Joe Berlinger (Brother's Keeper, Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills and its sequel, Revelations: Paradise Lost 2) brings a unique understanding of the blurry line between truth and fiction that is a key element of the Blair Witch series.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is the second film of Artisan Entertainment's projected Blair Witch trilogy. The final film will be a prequel that completes the legend of the Blair Witch. The first film in the series, The Blair Witch Project, is the highest grossing independent film in history.

On 21st October of 1994, three student film makers, Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard and Michael Williams hiked into Maryland's Black Hills Forest to film a documentary on a local legend. The Blair Witch.

They were never heard from again............

One year later, their footage was found.

WARNING: If you haven't seen the movie "The Blair Witch Project" and don't want to know what happens in the film or the truth about the entire story I suggest that you don't read any further.

So many people have contacted me asking if I would investigate this story because they believe the entire thing is real - Well I hate to tell you this but IT'S NOT REAL - it's simply a made up story that was invented by the films' co-writers/co-directors, Ed Sanchez and Dan Myrick - go ahead - ask em - it's been an unbelievably successful film and so far has grossed over $106 Million - it is so far listed as one of the most successful films ever and is expected to gross $125 million. The films makers had a brilliant marketing strategy of promoting it heavily over the Internet - you can see their handwork at http://www.blairwitch.com and as you can see by this website there is certainly the feeling that the entire thing is completely real. The never marketed The Blair Witch Project as fiction - they marketed the entire thing as a REAL event that actually happened.

I know it all looks great and fantastically real but if you still want to believe it all really happened then go ahead, keep on living on that planet you are on now, you're obviously happy there. Believe me the film scared the bejeesus out of me! 3 people running around with 2 cameras, lost in the woods, strange noises at night, (what the hell where half of those noises supposed to be anyway?) children outside their tent, babies screaming, the guy just disappearing when they wake up in the morning.....it's all pretty realistic. I'm not denying the fact that this movie is a HELL OF A SCARY MOVIE.
But just think about it - if it really did happen, why wouldn't you of ever heard about these events before now? Why wasn't it world wide news in 1994 when the 3 of them mysteriously disappeared huh? And why didn't you hear about it in 1995 when they found the footage huh?? And lets face it - stuff like that JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN, well not in the real world anyhow.

All the supporting documents and any evidence you may have seen trying to prove that the Blair Witch and all the events in the Blair Witch mythology really does exist are completely made up. The newscasters, police investigators, and all the people who are interviewed are actors. The evidence photos and videos were staged. The film cans, video tapes, and backpack seen in the photos and video were artificially aged and weathered. The film makers wanted to create a sense of history to add to the depth and believability of the film - as well as a sense of ancient evil that makes the movie all the more frightening.

The three students in the films are all played by actors. The actors used their real names and they were actually sent off into the woods for 8 days to shoot the film themselves. Their contact with the crew was limited and they actually had rations that they had to pick up daily. They also carried a satellite tracking system with them so as not to get lost.

They all knew their 'characters' well, and knew the general setup of the 'story', but everything that happens as the story unfolds was a surprise to them. It's why the film is so believable.

Yes their is a Burkittsville, Maryland, it has never been referred to as Blair and it definitely DOES NOT have any witch legends surrounding it - only a small portion of the town was used in the film the rest of the film was filmed at Seneca Creek State Park, Maryland, USA. Burkittsville is suffering tourist overload at the moment and the townsfolk are getting sick of telling the tourists that there's nothing to see there from the film and that the story isn't real - I suggest that you don't go there to visit the place and leave the poor people alone.!

REVIEW OF THE FILM

Well I've finally been able to view this blockbuster for myself. As I stated before this is a scary film (well it kinda frightened me a tad). I know some of you out there think it's stupid, but I thought it was great, I highly recommend it to anyone who loves horror movies.

Watching a group of students fall apart in front of your very eyes and watching them being haunted by something unseen and extremely spooky was really quite scary. Even though you never see what it is that is after them, I find that your imagination can really do overtime and keep you thinking about this movie all night long.

I liked the ending, but found it a bit confusing, in fact there were quite a few things within the film that I really wanted explained better. I've put up a page with answers to all the questions most commonly asked click here.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed it, it had the right amount of scare and the mysterious and creepy ending made for a great horror film.
