When I was a little kid, probably around 8 or 9 years old, I used to believe there was a friendly
ghost that lived outside of my room. He was an older man, probably around his 70's or something
(it's hard to actually remember what went through my mind, it was a while ago!). I used to have this ritual I would do before going to sleep (and don't think I am psycho or anything, I was really young). I believed that if the ghost saw me moving in my bed, he would leave me alone. I'd move a leg, an arm, whatever I thought it took to make the ghost know I was alright. I believed he was here to watch over me. After a while, I stopped believing he was out there. It all went to the back of my mind that it had even happened. A year or so ago, I was talking to my mom and cousin about ghosts, and my mom started to say she thought our house was haunted. She said one day she was on the phone and turned around to see the ghost of an older man walking through our family room. She didn't want to say anything about it, because she thought people would think she was crazy. My cousin then said she had once seen the ghost of an older man in her house in Massachusetts too. When they compared what they saw, it appeared they had seen the same thing. They had both seen the apparition of an older man walking through the halls, and they both felt that he was there to watch over them. While talking to some friends some time ago, I came to the conclusion that we had all felt or seen the same thing. It was my grandfather. He died in 1991, which would explain why I had started to believe in this ghost of a man walking around outside of my room. We would have been around the age we all described, because he was 72 when he died. I still believe he is here with us, watching over all his children and grandchildren. My grandmother says she sometimes feels his presence around his birthday in her house, and is always at ease when he shows up. I know this isn't your average horror ghost story, but I just wanted to add my story. Anon: No State: California Country: USA Publish: Yes
