I live in Illinois, and annually my family and I travel up to a cabin in the northern woods of Wisconsin. Our cabin has been in the family for a few generations. My great and great-great grandparents built it in the early 1900’s. The cabin is secluded on a lake with our two neighbors houses (also a summer homes, but they weren't there presently). One neighbor is set close to ours, and the other house is a few lots away. Our driveway down from the road to the cabin is about a quarter mile straight down a hill. The driveway is covered with gravel, so you can defiantly hear a car coming down it.
One night, I woke up in my bed. I thought I woke up just as a natural occurrence as everybody occasionally wakes up in the middle of the night. Then I heard a car start to roll down the driveway. For a second, I thought that is might be our neighbors, but they were not there and would not be there for a month or so. I heard the car park, but saw no lights. Then the voices started. As most of you who have had a ghost experience know, voices are not clear to comprehend. As I remember it, there was at least one man and one woman voice, if not more. They were talking of a ballroom dance. This happened in the early 1990’s, so the whole discussion is more blurred to me than it was that night.
The next day, my dad and brother were talking about it to. Apparently, my brother work up my dad and they looked outside after turning on lights by the driveway. They saw nothing. When my uncle found out what we were talking about, he told us that the voices were that of his grandparents. We were a little less frightened then, now that we knew that the spirits were from our family.
This is a true story, along with plenty others that I have that have to do with the cabin.
