Before I start my story there are some things that need to be said.
The house I lived in was very old, and it was two stories high. My parents and my sister, Becky, all slept on the first floor, and their rooms were right next to each other. My room was on the second floor, at the end of a large hallway. There were closets and bathrooms on either sides of the hallway, and, like I said, my room was at the very end.
My room was quite small, with a bed in the corner, and a chest of drawers on the side by the door, but there was one thing that made my room unusual. On the wall across from my bed, there were three midget size openings that, I guessed, were for storage. Well, at night, the spaces used to be pitch black, and scared the living daylights out of me.
My experiences began right when we moved in. I was about seven or eight years old.
We had lived there about two weeks, and already I knew that I didn't like it there. At night I used to be so scared of the storage spaces that I would pull the covers over my head the whole night so I didn't have to look at them. I thought that there was ghosts, and monsters living in the holes, despite what my parents told me.
Well one morning before school I was in my bed. I still had about thirty minutes until my alarm went off. I was half asleep, and my arms and head were out of the covers. I was so tired that I had forgotten all about the dark holes in my wall. I was just laying there for a few minutes when all of the sudden I felt something touch my arm. I opened my eyes, but nothing was there. I felt it again. whatever it was, was now scratching, and it was starting to hurt. I dove under my covers until my alarm went off for school.
About a month of two later in the middle of the night, about one or two, and I was lying awake, covers over my head as usual, when I thought I heard something. A low, scratchy growl. I heard it again! After a few minutes of just laying there, listening, I finally worked up enough courage to look. I slowly lifted the covers off of my head, and screamed! I saw a shadow, man or beast I do not know. It looked like it was moving around the room, towards me! Again I dived under my covers and stayed there for the rest of the night.
We moved out a year later, which was fine with me! It has now been twenty years, and I know I will not forget anything that happened in the house.
I asked my mom about the house, but she said she had not felt, nor seen anything unusual happen in the little time that we lived there. I then asked her why she never checked on me in the night whenever I screamed. She looked at me strangely, then said, "When did you ever scream?"
I do not know how she could not have heard me. You could hear about anything, from any where in the house, even it you were on different floors.
Thank you for taking time to read my story, and even if it did not seem that scary, well, you had to have been there.
