Ghost hunters spent the day arriving and settling into their accommodation for the weekend. We organized a visit to Junee Cemetery that night where the Crawleys (original owners of Monte Cristo) were buried. We had no reports of paranormal activity from the old cemetery but thought it would be interesting to visit at night.
Ghost hunters took the afternoon to have a good look around the homestead - visit the inner rooms and back sheds and stables - some presences were felt inside the house.
Our visit to Junee Cemetery was not as successful as we'd hoped. The moon was out and this was the next night on from a full moon - it lit the pathways as we walked around the old graves and tried our best to avoid the smell emanating from a nearby rubbish dump (phew!). The night was chilly as winter was approaching and we did not capture anything on film - a few members thought they saw shadows of people standing in the darkness and others claimed to get feelings of "Evil" from the very bottom end of the cemetery but we did not manage to get any unusual meter readings and I myself did not see or feel anything unusual. It was an interesting visit none the less.
Upon returning to Monte Cristo for the night we had a further walk around the inside of the homestead and visited the back sheds. We did not manage to see or feel any paranormal activity. The place seemed very quiet.
DAY 2 (Saturday)
Arrival of Mike Lambert - our usual sensitive - Mike and myself had high hopes for picking up some paranormal activity that night - we hoped that we would capture something on film and that we would encounter some of the unusual activity that we had on the last visit.
Eoghan Arnold, Myself (Rowena) and Mike Lambert attempted a seance (mainly for our own curiosity) in the stables out the back - these stables have had quite a few reports of paranormal activity and our last visit we encountered a "mischievous" spirit who resided there. Our seance provided us with "Jack" who could of perhaps been the caretaker that was shot there in earlier years? Jack demanded alcohol and we did not feel that this seance was very productive as we did not get definite answers to our questions.
The day was spent visiting local areas and exploring Junee. Nighttime brought the dinner in the haunted old dining room hosted by Reginald and Olive Ryan, owners of Monte Cristo Homestead.
We usually hold a seance with the use of an Ouija board on our visits to Monte Cristo - this is not used as part of an investigative tool in any way, but since some of us are experienced with Ouija Boards we hold a seance for our own interest, and for the public attending the weekend who would like to participate in a seance with experienced people as well. However we had no positive results with our seance that night - we feel that there were some people within the group that were blocking the seance and wouldn't allow it to flow freely and work properly.
Disappointed at our seance we then continued to investigate some of the more haunted rooms of the homestead. We spent some time exploring the Dining Room and other rooms within the homestead - We only had one moment where an unusual and unexplainable EMF meter reading was captured. Upon returning to the same spot the next day the same reading could not be captured again. When in the haunted dining room one of our members who was seated in a dark corner on one of the antique chairs was suddenly overcome with an odd feeling as if someone or "something" was present and perhaps sitting upon her knee. She quickly exited the corner spot and remained over the other side of the room after being quite shocked by the sudden fright she got. Eoghan Arnold and Mike Lambert moved quickly into the same spot and also got the feeling that a presence was with us in that same corner of the room. We could pick up no readings on our meters, there was no temperature drop and we did not manage to capture anything on film however.
The night continued on but we did not feel that there was any paranormal activity within the house to be captured or explored - it was an extremely quiet and settled night - most unusual for Monte Cristo. A small group of us went outside to explore the back sheds - We explored the loft where the "mischievous" spirit could sometimes be felt - but sadly he had abandoned us for the night.
Unfortunately we sometimes encounter the problem of ghosts not appearing or doing anything unusual that we can see or record - ghosts don't appear on demand and we must sometimes resign ourselves to the fact that we may not have anything out of the ordinary happen. This was mostly the case with Monte Cristo 2000 - however one of our guests for the weekend heard piano playing from her bed in the middle of the night - this has been reported by others staying the night at Monte Cristo. Monte Cristo does not have a piano and the Ryans are not in the habit of playing music in the early hours of the morning :).
We all enjoyed the weekend and hope that the next event will be more fruitful - that's the thing with ghosts - you just never know what will happen!!

Visiting Junee Cemetery at night
We discussed ghosts, the paranormal and were treated to information on further ghostly happenings since our last visit that Reg and Olive Ryan had both experienced. Earlier that day Eoghan Arnold had been ordered out of the same dining room by a spectral voice of Mrs. Crawley - he did not encounter the same order this night.
