My family was summoned to the hospital concerning my father-in-law. The doctors had said he had taken a turn for the worse. He was not expected to make through the night. While in the waiting room with my family, I saw my father-in-law's spirit standing in the doorway. Listening and watching what everyone in the room was saying. I told everyone to be quiet because he was listening to us. Everyone asked who was listening. I said dad is and pointed to the doorway. I was the only person in the room that saw and heard him. No one believed me, they thought I was nuts. My father in law died four days later. The same evening of his funeral I cried myself to sleep. Around eleven that evening, I heard the bedroom door creak open and was startled from my sleep. This ray of light, came in my darkened bedroom, and shone on a crystal vase filled with blue and white carnations from the funeral. I sat up in bed, looked around the room to see who was there. There wasn't anyone at first. I moved to the end of the bed with my feet on the floor, all of a sudden my father-in-law was standing there smiling at me. He just kept looking at me and told me to stop crying, that he was ok, and that everything would be alright. I felt a warmth and love within that I have never felt before in my life. I had always taken care of him when he was alive. His spirit was translucent. He appeared the same as if he were still alive. He stayed with me for about thirty minutes. I had laid back down and when I glanced back to the area where he was, he had vanished. I have never seen him again. But this is an experience I will never forget. To this day.

I am scared to death of blue and white carnations. I think he visited me because he knew how upset I was over his death, plus he was the father I never had. I loved him and continue to love him very much. This occurred thirteen years ago.
