My 5 year old daughter and I had just moved into a new
house. We had been watching television and it was getting
late in the evening. I told my daughter to go and brush
her teeth and go to bed. When she hesitated I asked her why
she informed me that there was a man wearing blue jeans and
black shirt standing in the hall. I walked over to the
hall, "there's no one there" I told her. "Yes there is", she
replied, "you can only see him when he wants you to". When I
asked what he was doing in our hall, she shrugged her
shoulders and told me that the hall was where he hung out.
Thinking that she had developed an imaginary friend I
smiled and tucked her into bed, not too concerned.
A few weeks later I had gone to bed around 10:30pm. The
man I had been dating for several years would often come by
and spend the night instead of driving 20 miles back out to
his house, if he'd been called in to work in the middle of
the night. So later that night when I heard the door
leading to the garage open quietly I figured it was him. I
heard him coming down the hall and the door to my room
widen (I always kept it open slightly so I could hear my
daughter). I moved over on the bed to allow him room. I
felt the bed move as he sat down on the edge of the bed.
When I rolled over to say hi, there was no one there. I
got up and looked around the house and garage. There was
no one there.
One night several months later my daughter woke me up
and asked to sleep with me, when I asked her what was wrong
she told me the man in blue jeans was standing in her door
way staring at her. I closed the door to my room and just
as we were beginning to fall back asleep we both sat up.
Something was pushing against my bedroom door. It sounded
as if someone had their hand on the door knob and was
leaning against the door trying to open it. After an hour
I finally opened the door. We didn't sleep well that
night.
Several months and several incidences later my parents were
visiting. At 5:30am I was in my bathroom getting ready for
work when the door opened (scared the poop out of me!!!)
My mom was standing there. She had the strangest look on
her face and told me that she had heard me crying and
wondered what was wrong. I told her I wasn't crying (which
I wasn't). She apologized and went back to bed confused. I
purposely had not told my parents about the things
happening in the house, for fear they would worry about my
sanity. However later in the week when they were preparing
to leave for home, my mom pulled me aside and told me not
to be afraid but there was something "happening" in the
house. When she said that she had dreamed every night of a
man wearing a black shirt and blue jeans watching us from
the hallway my heart jumped into my throat, but I smiled
trying to play it off and told her that was my daughters
imaginary friend.
"Honey" she said "He's not imaginary"
These incidences occured throughout our stay at the
house. When I found I was being transfered to another
state I was relieved. I don't know if the new owners have
met the man in the hall. I've never had the nerve to stop
in and ask them.
