Back in 1997 I was pregnant with my daughter. My husband
and I decided to visit a local castle, approx. 2 miles from
where we live - Ripley Castle, Harrogate, North Yorkshire,
UK.
It was one of those things where you get a tour guide to
show you round. One of the rooms we were shown round was like a banqueting
hall. As soon as I walked into it I felt uneasy. As we were
being talked to by the guide I looked to my left and saw
what appeared to be smoke billowing from the side of a
young gentleman standing near me. No one else appeared to
notice. My first thought was that he was smoking and I
couldn't believe that he had the nerve to do this in a
stately home.
A few moments later the guide asked if anybody knew the
history behind the room.......she then announced that it
was haunted and pointed to the exact spot where I had seen
the strange smoke and announced that this was where the
ghost appeared. I looked and all the smoke had gone!
Naturally, being around 7 months pregnant at the time I did
not want to publicly announce what I had seen as I knew
people would think it was all down to hormones. I did tell
my husband, however.
I have had lots of other experiences - as has my young
daughter, and I know what I saw that day.
