This just happened only on Wednesday - September 10th - so
it's pretty recent. A bit of background info - I'm a
hospitality student studying for (hopefully) an advanced
diploma. Now, my experience.
I was in Beechworth for a wine and cheese tour and it was
our (1st and 2nd Semester) free day. I chose to go "Ghost
hunting"...alone, of course. Half the day was walking
around Beechworth - which is an old gold mining town near
the NSW/Victoria border. I saw Ned Kelly's cell but none
of the ghosts were there. I think I should also state that
the accommodation was in an old Mental Asylum, but that's
another story.
Anyway, about lunchtime, I stumbled on the entranceway to
Lake Sambell which, if you've been there, isn't really
that obvious (a small road). I trekked down it, reading
the history plaque there (Gold miners drowning, Chinese
being killed), but thought nothing of it. Nothing much
happened until after dinner (6:30pm), when I returned to
the Lake in near-darkness.
Now, I was alone, which probably wasn't a good thing, but
I think that there would have been some...thing there even
if I was with someone. First, all of the lights switched
off - which was freaky because the lights in the
surrounding houses went off as well. There was no light,
except from the moon. Here's where it get's a bit hairy.
Just near the picnic tables, there were two figures. I
walked closer, thinking that they were maybe locals out
fishing. As I drew closer, I noticed that i could see the
moon on the water - THROUGH THEM! One of them turned
around and I was face to face with a Chinese man in gold
rush era clothing. There were no eyes on his face...just
gaping black pits. His friend turned around and I saw that
his throat area was ripped apart. He also had no eyes. I
did the one thing I thought I would never do.
I fainted.
When I woke up, it was close to 10pm, so I got out of
there as soon as I could. When I finally reached the road,
I looked back to see them, looking at me with smiles on
their faces. I was so creeped out, I ran back to my room
and stayed there until morning.
Now, I wonder who they were, and if I was just dreaming -
But I saw them with my own eyes, and I will NEVER forget
it.
THE GHOSTS OF LATROBE, BEECHWORTH
Hello again. I've got a story here already, and if you've
read it, you know the background to this one. Thankfully I
didn't faint in this one, but it's creepy.
Last month, I went with my school (William Blue
International Hotel Management School) on a cheese and
wine tour of Northern Victoria. We stayed in a nice town
called Beechworth at the local branch of La trobe
University. It was also an old Mental Asylum.
The day after my little...scare at the lake, I walked
around the campus at about 6ish, so it was getting dark.
No lights were on just yet, so all I could see was my the
ground in front of me. As before, I was all alone. Just
walking around, near the dorm we had to stay in.
As I got closer, near the door, I saw two figures outside.
I thought that they were my dorm-mates and they were
waiting for me to unlock the door. I walked up, talked to
them and unlocked the door. I walked in, but they didn't.
Oh, they CAME in all right, just didn't walk. They sort of
floated in. Now, I was freaked out beyond belief, but
determined not to faint. Then, in front of my eyes, they
turned around. I hadn't seen their faces (if they had
any), and thought that they were either Greg or Pruit.
What I saw made my blood literally freeze in my veins. No
hollow or sunken pits, thank god, but a freaky reddish-
orange glow. Then, they slowly faded from view, laughing
softly.
After we came back and I'd written my first story up, I
asked one of the lecturers if any patients had died while
in residence. I wish I'd never had asked.
I was told that while no one died, there were always
reports of two shadowy figures around my dorm. They had no
distinguishing features, just their eyes, which were
burning pits and their laugh which was pure evil.
Now, I know what I saw on both accounts. My eyes have been
opened to the other side.
I only hope that I won't have any more experiences.
