Many people who have heard my story have called
it "strange and unrealistic". Believe me, it is very real.
I think they mostly didn't believe me because I was around
10 at the time. But my cousin was with me, who was 12, and
she also remembers our experience.
I was spending the night over at my cousin's house
like I normally did on weekends. Her house was only one
minute away walking from mine. It was also right next to a
public park. If you stepped off her front yard, there were
stairs leading up to the park.
Usually, we stayed up watching Mad TV, which
starts at 11 pm and ends at 12. It was about to end when
we heard a noise from outside her window. One of her
windows faces the steps leading to the park. We looked
outside and realized it was just the sprinklers from the
park, but what we saw next paralyzed us with fear.
We saw the Grim Reaper walking down the steps. It
was dressed in a black robe-like piece of clothing with
the hood on. It was also carrying a scythe, the long,
curved blade. Then it suddenly turned to look at us. This
freaked me out the most because its eyes were red! We
closed the window right then and just stared at each
After a few seconds had passed, we looked out
again, fearing it was coming after us. It was gone. Then
my cousin got this crazy idea that maybe it was standing
outside her front door (she also has a window that faces
her front door). We both looked towards that window and
walked to the wall farthest from it. Iím guessing it was
about 12:30 when we finally decided to go to sleep, but we
slept on the far side since the bed is next to that window.
At about 3 in the morning, we heard a car crash
outside. We looked out and it had crashed into the steps
of the park (the steps mark the end of the street). Then I
thought ďCould it be the Grim Reaper had made this car
crash?Ē I was mortified by then. This is nothing a 10 year
old should have to experience, right?
Well, Iím 14 now, and Iím happy to say we haven't
seen the Grim Reaper anymore. But then again, I havenít
slept over at my cousinís house since.
