I used to date this boy who lived in another city and to
get to and from his house I had to travel down a tree-
lined, two-way highway.
One night around midnight I was
on my way home from his house when all of the sudden I see
this thing in the road. I didn't even see it until I was
close enough to run over it.
I only saw it briefly. It was short, barely 3 feet, and
it was wearing a light brown cloak of some sort like a
friar would wear. I just remember trying to wrap my mind
around what I was seeing. I thought that maybe it was an
animal because of the color, but it was definitely wearing
a brown cloak and hobbling laboriously across the
highway. Just imagine if E.T. was wearing a cloak and you
were standing behind him watching him waddle across a road.
I had just enough time to swerve my car out of the way to
avoid hitting the creature. I remember being surprised
that my car did not run off the road. As I passed by it,
it was turning its head to look at me, but I sped off too
fast to see its face. I honestly was not afraid at the
time, but when I think about it now, it gives me the
creeps.
