This event takes place when I was 14 years old. I
am now 22 and I remember my experience like it
was yesterday.
It happened at my grandma's apartment. I was
spending the night, like I had many times before.
We stayed up playing board games and talking
until about midnight and then decided to call it
a night. My grandma lives in a one bedroom, one
bath apartment. But she did not sleep in her
bedroom because the bed hurt her back. So she
always slept on the couch. That meant I got to
sleep in the bedroom.
Anyway's, that night, for
some strange reason, my grandma gave me a flash
light and said she would not be leaving the
bathroom light on like she always does. That
didn't bother me because I wasn't scared of her
apartment in any way.
So, after a quick good
night, I went to bed and immediately fell asleep.
I was in a very deep sleep when suddenly I woke
up, wide awake. I was laying there staring out
the window at the moon. It was a beautiful night
and the moon was shining bright enough to light
up the entire bedroom. As I lay there, I suddenly
felt the need to look at the bedroom. I was
looking around when I noticed something at the
door, which was kiddy corner to my bed. Standing
there, was a little old woman. She was standing
still, looking at me. After a couple of minutes,
she slowly started walking towards the bed. As
she was walking, I noticed that she was bare
footed, and wearing an ankle length grey flannel
night gown. Her hair was a tangled mess, and her
eyes had that old sunken look to them. She was
all wrinkly and looked very old. She made it to
my bed, and looked down at me. She then smiled,
and turned and ran out of the room faster than
humanly possible. The amazing part is that I
wasn't scared at all by this. I lay there for a
moment wondering what the heck just happened and
decided to investigate.
I grabbed the flashlight
grandma had given me, and proceeded to search the
entire apartment. I checked on my grandma first
and then checked the kitchen and closets. As I
went to check the bathroom, which is right next
to the bedroom door, I suddenly became extremely
scared. My grandma has this weird thing about her
doors. She likes them to be open so she can see
what's on the other side. Well, now the door was
cracked. Just wide enough for someone to peek out
at me. That's when I said screw it and ran back to
bed. I pulled the covers over my head and went
back to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up and walked into the
dining area. My grandma and my dad were sitting
at the table talking. I told them what happened
and they insisted it was a dream. I still swear
to this day it happened. It is something that I
will never forget. |
