My son and I used to live in a duplex that had been converted from an old carriage house.

The duplex was three floors; the basement, middle floor with the living room, kitchen and dining room, and then the upstairs which had the bathroom and two bedrooms. My son was always terrified to sleep with his light off or the door shut, anywhere else he was fine with the light off. He said that there were bad shadows in his room (he was around two at the time this started).

Well one night about two months after my then husband was deployed I was laying in bed and I heard what sounded like foot steps walking across the kitchen floor. They continued across the living room and started up the stairs. I had my eyes closed but I was not even close to being asleep. I heard them come up the stairs and come across my floor, though the floor was carpeted the steps were very distinct. I heard it stop at the side of my bed and it felt like someone was staring at me. I felt all the hair on the back of my neck and my arms stand up and my eyes flew open but there was no one there!! Needless to say I was awake all night with the tv and lights on.

A few months later after I babysat my friends kids she called me and told me something that her daughter said that just sent shivers down my spine. She said that after she picked up her kids her daughter told her she saw a tall man in a tall black hat walk out of my son's room, stop at the top of the stairs and then turn and walk through the walk into the neighbors side.

I am so glad to be out of that house. My son has no problem sleeping with his light off or the door closed in our new house. I can only imagine what my baby saw in his room that made him so scared all those nights.
