During my spring vacation in 2005, my parents and my aunt
and uncle
took a trip to Jamaica for one week for their second honeymoon. While
they were away, I stayed over at my grandparent's house. My grandma
noticed that once again, I was very bored and asked if I would like
to play a game of Yahtzee with her and my grandpa. So I said sure,
why not.
Something about that particular night made me feel nervous and edgy,
I really didn't know why either, so I just decided it was because my
parents have been away for a while now.
I was beginning to get very
tired; we were probably into our third game, when suddenly the lights
started flickering in the next room over, while our room remained
lit. It was very unusual, so my grandma wanted my grandpa and I to go
check it out.
The lights suddenly stopped flickering when we went inside, as I
stepped into the room, I felt almost as if I was swaying or if the
room was tilting, like vertigo. My grandpa said it was probably just
a lose circuit, nothing to worry about. But that's when the lights
started to flicker again, and out of the corner of my eye, on top of
the desk behind a stack of envelopes was what looked like a very
small child. It had curly red hair and rosy cheeks, peeking out from
behind the envelopes. The little child seemed to be laughing and
pointing at us, and just as fast as it got there it disappeared.
I've never seen anything like it before in my life, I'm still not
sure to this day if it was just my imagination or if it really was a
spirit pulling a prank on us. But I can tell you; once it was gone
the lights never flickered again after that.
It reminded me of the
time when my dad's Aunt Winnie was over at my grandparents house long
ago. She was on a very strong medicine since she was very sick and
just got out of surgery, and she always mentioned seeing little
people walking through the house. He remembers being next to her
while she was pointing at the TV (which was in the same room I saw
the imp) saying "That little elf with the red stockings, he's
laughing at me!" My dad checked behind the TV, but nothing was there.
Perhaps there really is a mischievous being within that house, or
just a strange coincidence. |
