This story was told to me by my Great Grandmother.
When she was about four her mother began having headaches. The headaches were so bad that she had to have bed rest for days. The doctors couldn't figure out what was causing them, but my Grandmothers little sister knew. Lily, Granny's sister, kept trying to tell the doctors that if they would just stop giving her medication the headaches would go away. "Why would the medication cause her headaches?" the doctor asked, "Because the spirits are trying tell her something but they can't get through because of your stupid medication!" Lily said. Of course no one believed her, they just dismissed it as a figment of a child's imagination. When the doctors left they told the oldest boy to give their mom her medication. Of course lily talked her oldest brother into letting her be in charge and that's when things started happening.
Everyday until their mom got better Lily would give her mom less and less pills until she was down to not even a half of a pill. One day after their mom was much better Lily asked her mother "Don't you hear them?" her mom replied "Who are you talking about?" " The spirits, they are standing on each side of you, you can't hear them?, they are yelling right in your ears!". Their mother began to think that poor Lily was losing her mind.
That night Lily ran down the hall terrified screaming that something bad was going to happen. Waking everyone in the house the family was shocked at her behavior. The next morning their mother called the doctor to come check Lily out. When the doctor arrived Lily was sitting in the corner chanting over and over again, "Don't you hear them?, they are right there, don't you hear them screaming at you?, they are trying to warn you!!" It took all the brothers to hold Lily down so the doctor could give her a shot.
Later that afternoon her mother and her oldest brother went to check on her and discovered two little girls that Lily have been seen playing with once or twice standing on each side of Lily yelling for her to go with them. Her brother quickly told them to get out of their house right now. The girls turned around and disappeared, her mom ran over to her while her brother stood there in shock. "Mother", Lily said, "If you had of listened to them then maybe some horrible things wouldn't have happened". "But nothing has happened", her mother said. Then Lily died right in her mother arms.
Okay I know it wasn't that spooky, but it's just a reminder the we should take the time out to listen to children, it may save a life.
