WHO
ARE THE AGHS?
We
are proud to say that the AGHS IS A COMPLETELY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION.
The
Australian
Ghost Hunters Society (AGHS) in its original form, was founded by
Rowena and another member (now long gone) back in 1997/1998 after
receiving constant requests through Castle of Spirits for information
on Australian haunts and sites. At the time there was nothing available
on the Internet for people who were interested in haunted sites and
ghosts in Australia so Rowena took Castle of Spirits that one step
further and decided there was more room for ghosts and especially more
room for Australian ghosts and haunts.
A more solid group of AGHS members was then formed and after some
changes within, we decided to go with a more streamlined group of low
profile experienced researchers and interested parties who all share a
common interest in ghosts and paranormal research. We are now proud to
say that we are one of the longest existing and most trusted ghost
societies in Australia today.
Some
of the interesting T.V the AGHS has worked on include:
Consultants on Beyond Productions "SCREAM TEST"
Channel V, including interviews and information on haunted sites in
Australia
Consulted on overseas programs including the Unexplained (polish) and
American T.V show input on various programs (too many to name)
Involved with various documentaries on Picton/Monte Cristo
Many interviews with ABC/BBC/Triple M/Triple J/local American/British
radio shows.
Watch out for us around Halloween and October as this is when we
sometimes make appearances on T.V and radio!
The
AGHS is a
dedicated group, who do not have any preconceived or established
beliefs about the paranormal. We are open-minded about ideas, beliefs
and further research and experimentation. Like most ghost groups around
the world today, we will always be learning and gathering knowledge as
we explore and investigate reported haunting's around Australia. Of
course we will be reporting our findings whenever possible so the
public can also share in our knowledge on-line.
In
AGHS we
don’t judge those who believe and who feel that they need to
share their experience with us. It is our opinion that further research
is needed to allow us to prove beyond doubt whether or not ghosts
exist, although many of us have had unexplainable experiences of our
own. Most of us still search for the answers to these experiences.
We
would happily
accept evidence if it could prove or disprove the existence of ghosts
beyond doubt. Hopefully we can add to the research that is currently
being carried out around the world.
AGHS
has already
investigated some of Australia's most haunted sites. We have
Investigated Monte Cristo Homestead in Junee, popularly known as
"Australia’s most haunted house". We have explored the dark
depths of the Quarantine Station at North Head NSW, and have been into
graveyards at the stroke of midnight. It does not frighten us to
explore and investigate these sites, in fact we actively seek out
haunted sites as much as we can, no matter how run down, how haunted,
how dark or how spooky... the spookier the better! We hope that further
opportunities will present themselves to us in the future so we can
test our investigative skills and try our best to capture ghosts on
film, cassette and other media.
While
ghost
hunting is a serious business – we aim to be an open,
friendly
and sociable group at all times. We often hold public events that you
can participate in too, and who knows... perhaps you will see a ghost!
