Governor's Hall
Thomas, WI, USA
October 2012
In the summer of 2006 I finally got my acceptance letter to the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. I was thrilled, I had toured the campus extensively and loved every minute of it. It is a beautiful campus with a small and shallow river running through it. Although it got pretty chilly during the winter months it was the best of all the campuses I toured that year. After a couple months of anticipation, it was finally move in day. It was full of emotional teenagers and parents saying their goodbyes, and awkward sibling hugs and high fives. My hall, Governor's Hall was my first choice and I was excited to move into the magnificent building.
Governor's Hall was a co-ed dorm with gender floors alternating as you went up. It was clean, smelled nice, and even had a piano practice room in the basement. My first few nights in the dorm were nice, me and my roommate Sam got a long extremely well. I lived in room 104 on the first floor. It was a good room with a nice view of the backyard and not too far from the bathrooms.
On the 5th night I heard something strange. It was around 1:30 in the morning when I awoke to the sound of crying in my room. I wasn't sure exactly what was happening, I figured my roommate must have been getting homesick. I sat up in my bed and look across the room to see him sitting straight up in his bed.
"Are you okay?" I whispered to him.
"Shhhh!" I shushed me quietly.
"What is it?" I asked after a few seconds of silence."I heard it too."
The next few days me and Sam were kind of nervous. We heard the crying every night but began to assume it was one of our neighbors, he seemed like he was homesick anyway. On about my 15th night there, I heard the words "Help Me" whispered into my ear. I was terrified and sat up immediately in my bed. A young man, in his twenties stood in front of my door. He was pale white and very skinny. His eyes looked lifeless and blank. He turned around and walked into the hallway. He continued to haunt me for the rest of the semester, always asking for help but disappearing if I tried to contact him.
I'm typing this now to warn UWEC and Governors Hall, although I've left. I've heard of sightings from the new residents of ROOM 104.
