Headlights

October 2004
A few months ago my wife and I were driving home from our weekend get away in a mountain cabin. It was maybe 11pm or so, the road was very curvy and dark on our drive down the mountain so I was driving at a slow safe speed.
We had driven for just over a half hour without seeing any other cars or houses when in my rear view mirror we saw a pair of headlights pop up and quickly catch up to us. The lights were very bright so I assumed he had his High lights on. It got to the point were the light was nearly blinding me from the reflection of my rear view mirror. He was almost bumper to bumper with our car and my wife asked me to let him pass. I held out my hand and waved him ahead but he wouldn't move he just stayed right behind us. It was getting tougher to make the curves with that much glare and I had to slow down, but he just slowed down with me not even attempting to pass.
I just couldn't take it any more and I pulled over to the side of the road. Again he followed right behind us and stopped with the lights on. I was really angered by that time and I just wanted to give this jerk a piece of my mind. My wife asked me to stay in the car in case it was a policeman, but I assured her no cop could be this sick or stupid.
I opened my door, stepped out of my car and turned toward the lights and called out "what the ***** is your problem man?!" No answer. As soon as I took one step toward his direction the lights instantly disappeared! I mean in a flash nothing. No car, no cop, nothing. One moment bright lights, the next moment absolute darkness and silence. Not a sign of any kind of vehicle. I quickly got back in my car to find my wife with her mouth hanging open. She couldn't believe it either. So we quickly drove off and got back home ASAP.
We haven't gone up to the cabin ever since.
