In The Garden With Stephanie

When I was thirteen, my family moved to a nice house that was built about five years before. My family loved the house because in the back was a garden that had been built thirty years before there were any houses there.

Well anyway, one night, about a month after we had moved in, my dog needed to go outside in the middle of the night, so I put on my shoes and went outside. Immediately, Talcum (my dog), ran into the garden. I followed him and when I finally caught up with him I saw a a little girl, about seven, dressed in a dark blue dress looking at the roses. I said, "Hello? your not supposed to be here. Are you lost?" She smiled at me and I heard a giggle. Again, I asked if she was lost and she frowned and ran off. I was a little afraid to run after her so I got Talcum and ran back to my house as fast as possible.

The next morning I told my mom what had happened and she got very pale. She yelled at me and said I was being so terrible and I was sent to my room.

Two weeks later I went into the garden with my older sister at around one o'clock in the morning. When we went into the garden, I saw her right away. We ran up to her and my sister asked, "Do you live around here?" She said nothing and just pointed to the roses and giggled. I was losing my patience and asked her if she knew my mom. I don't know why, to this day, I asked that but when I did she ran off. We tried to follow her but she was too fast. Me and my sister went back home.

The next day, I asked my Mom why she had gotten so mad at me that day I told her about the little girl. She started to cry a little and she told me that before me and Alison (my sister) were born, her and my father had adopted a little girl named Stephanie. She told me that when Stephanie was six years old, my Mom, her, and my dad went to a park forest to have a picnic. She said while they were setting up the lunch, Sephanie went off to find some flowers. When they called her, she did not come, so my parents went looking for her. My mother said that after an hour of looking, she saw a dark blue fabric in the bushes. She told me that she thought Stephanie was playing hide and go seek. When she and my father went behind the bush they found Stephanie lying on the ground. Her head was on a blood stained rock. My mom said she was holding roses. She told me that she must of fallen from a tree, hit her head, and died. After she told me the story, I was surprised she didn't tell me before. She asked me how I knew enough about that to say anything to her, and I told her about what had happened. She didn't believe me until we went to the garden and right by where I saw her we found red roses with a dark blue ribbon around them. From then on she believed me.

I know that the little girl was Stephanie.I know she came back to tell my mom that it was not her fault and that she is okay now.

I have told you my story. It does not matter if you believe it or not but I know it's very true.
