The Old Woman (3)

April 2006

I'm 19 years old and I live in a little Cape Cod in Pennsylvania with my mom and my younger sister.

It's a tiny house with only two bedrooms. My mom bought it in June 1998, only one month after the previous owner, an old woman, died in the house.

I never really thought much of the old woman, the only thing I know about her is that she died in the room that I share with my sister. It was a peaceful death - she died in her sleep, but no one found her until about a week after she died. There hasn't been any paranormal activity in the house (at least that I've noticed), until recently. It actually started only a couple weekends ago.

I had to get up at 5:30 AM on Sunday to go to work, but I woke up at about 4:20 AM, because I couldn't sleep. I was thinking about having to go to work and a trip that I'm taking at the end of the week, going over a mental list of what to pack. I was laying there with the lights off, hoping to drift back to sleep, when I clearly saw something run across my room and jump onto my sister's bed (she wasn't there because she was on a trip to Disney World with school). My first thought was that it was my cat and that he had gotten into my room somehow, but when I looked over at the door, it was shut tight. I got up and walked over to my sister's bed, but there was nothing there. I decided that I must have been imagining it and got back into my bed, but after laying there for a few minutes, my computer turned on. By this time I was freaked out and turned on my light, deciding that it was time to get up.

Yesterday I was babysitting my next door neighbor (a little boy age 9) and he was getting a glass of water from the sink. He was looking up and then he turned to me and said, "If your Grandma's at your house, then where is her car?" I was confused by his statement, so I walked over to the window to join him. From their kitchen window, you can see my bedroom window. "She was standing right there and she waved to me," he told me. I asked him if he was sure that it was my grandma (he's seen her many times because she lived in the same town and is at my house often), and he said he wasn't sure, he just saw an old woman waving at him in the window. I looked in the driveway and her car wasn't there, but I ran next door anyway to see who was in my house. No one was there.

This morning, I was sitting on the couch in my living room watching Harry Potter when my front door swung open and then shut, making a loud bang. It was windy out, so i figured that it was probably the wind and locked the door. However, as soon as I sat down it did the same thing again.

I'm now sure that there is something of the paranormal in my house. My only question is why is it only starting to become apparent now, after so many years of living here?
