Boogey Man

When I was a child my cousin would often joke about how the boogey man and how he would get me. Of course, seeing that I was only six or seven, I would be terrified out of my mind.

One night, my cousin said "I can feel it, tonight's the night he is gonna get you". Naturally I assumed he was trying to scare me so I didn't think to much about it. Later on that night, his mom came and picked him up and they went home. When it was time for me to go to bed I told my grandparents that I wanted to go downstairs first to get a drink. No one was down there and there was only one light on down there. I opened the refrigerator and immediately heard a very demonic voice behind me say "I have arrived for you. Ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!!!!" I turned to find a black wrinkled face with green teeth and red eyes staring directly into my face. I screamed and dropped my water glass shattering it into pieces. I ran upstairs and told my grandparents and they went down there to investigate. They said that it was probably my dad playing a trick on me, but it wasn't. He didn't come home until four hours after the incident.

The same person, with the same voice, appeared to me twice more. Once when I opened the closet to get my grandmother something, he was in there and said "What a pleasant surprise, ha ha ha ha ." And the other time was when I went outside at night to let the dog out, he appeared from around the corner of the house and he said "Peek-a-boo".

What was it? I don't know. I may never know. All I know is that he was not a figment of my imagination nor was he anyone playing a prank on me because in all of the places that he had appeared, there was a substance that resembled charcoal residue. I remember because my grandmother thought I had been playing with fire in the closet where he had appeared. I haven't seen him since.
