Follows Me

February 2000
It all started with my mom. One night she came running downstairs yelling at me to get out of bed and to come upstairs. She dragged me up the stairs and when she reached the top I started to ask her what was wrong. She literally put her hand over my mouth and shushed me. "Listen, do you hear that?" And before I could protest that I was sleepy I heard footsteps coming from above us. And they were heavy footsteps too, like that of a man. Before I could ask her what was going on she pulled me over to her room to show me my stepfather still asleep in bed. Soon after the footsteps stopped and she allowed me to go back to sleep. After that nothing seemed to happen again and the incident was almost forgotten.
A few weeks later my parents went out of town and left me at home for the weekend. I was sitting watching TV when our dog sat up and started growling at the stairs. I thought this was extremely strange since I, personally, had never heard our dog growl before. I got on the phone and made my boyfriend come over to the house. Until he arrived I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and the dog went nuts, barking and growling at the stairs even though she wouldn't go near them. At the point where I felt like I was going to cry my boyfriend arrived and the footsteps stopped. The dog also stopped barking.
At this point I was TOO scared to stay alone in the house again and so I would invite someone over for the night to stay with me.
I became used to the footsteps down the stairs every now and again, until something that happened one night.
I was lying in bed almost asleep, when my radio turned on. I thought maybe it had been in the in between position but then it got louder. I noticed the music that was playing on it. It was a classical music station, yet the tuner was off the scale and I couldn't get it to turn back to another station. All of a sudden it got really cold in the room, so I ran and jumped under my covers. Then my door opened...(Note: My door handle MUST be turned hard to the right in order for the door to open.) The music got louder and I saw a man standing in the doorway. I didn't know what to do, so I told the man that I was extremely freaked out and I didn't know if I could handle this. I don't know why I did this. I guess I was hoping it would work. In an instant the music turned off and a man's voice said "I'm sorry Jessica" and the door shut.
I didn't sleep for days. My mom said that same night she also had heard the music from her stereo and that it had gotten very cold in her room.
Eventually I moved into my college dorm. My roommate said that one day while she was taking a nap that the TV turned on by itself and she thought I was in the room. She asked me to turn it down and it turned off. When she looked up to tell me that I didn't have to turn it off I wasn't in the room.
During Christmas break my friend from school came to stay with me. While we were watching TV our back door opened and shut and we heard footsteps to the kitchen opening. When we went to see....no one was there. And just this evening my roommate and I were sitting here doing our homework when all of a sudden there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke. We checked by the window, in the hallway and everywhere, but we couldn't find where it was coming from. When my roommate went to take a shower I heard a man laugh and I recognized the laugh from earlier happenings..(not mentioned here). And as I sit here and finish typing the smell is still in the room.
Though my roommate and I are both allergic to cigarette smoke and neither of us smoke.
I just wonder why he follows me. All I know is that he shows himself to only me and other females.
