Ghost In Mommy's Nightgown

I was pretty young at the time this happened, but I will remember this night until the day I die.

I was at that age where I was scared to sleep by myself. My mom would tuck us into bed and say goodnight, but I would always wake up in the middle of the night and climb into bed with her.

On this particular night, I woke up, got out of my bed and started to walk to my mother's bedroom... when I suddenly saw my mom standing by a chair that we had in our living room. It looked like she was walking toward my room which wasn't odd because she would wake up throughout the night and check on us kids. She was wearing this nightgown that I didn't usually see her in and she had this glow around her. I called out "mom" and she disappeared! This, of course, scared me. So, I ran as fast as I could to her room and jumped into her bed, right next to her.

The next day I told my sisters about what happened, and I mentioned the nightgown that she was wearing. As I said before it wasn't a nightgown we usually saw her in. So, we looked through her nightgown drawer and low and behold, there it was. We threw it away!

To this day I don't know why I saw a ghostly figure of my mother. Further more, why she was in that specific nightgown. Was the ghost trying to coax us into trusting it? Was it trying to make us feel more comfortable? I don't know, but I do know that what I saw wasn't a dream and I can't help but wonder if it's still lurking around our house.
