Ghost In My Room

Tennessee, USA
January 1999

When I was 5 we moved into a new home that had never been lived in before. We were all very excited about it, especially me. My Mom and Dad bought new furniture for the place including a new bedroom suite for me. I liked my new furniture but I didn't want to sleep in the new bed. I guess I just wasn't used to it. So I slept in my old bed that was put into our guest room. For the first year we lived in the house I slept in the guest room but kept all of my stuff in my room. One night, I think it was during the summer, I went to bed as usual in the guest room. That night my mom had washed my hair and had put it up in rollers for the next day...I was excited about being able to wear my hair like a "big Girl". Well, I fell asleep as usual around 8:30. During the night I woke up, I don't know what time it was and I don't know what made me wake up but I just woke up. The room I was in was an average size room and the bed was a twin bed which was against the far wall and at the foot of the bed was a window that looked out on the street in the front of our house. Next to the window was a small bookcase, and the door was at an angle to the book case. From where I was laying when I woke up the first thing I would see would be the bookcase...that night when I woke up there was a small child standing in front of the bookcase. I know I wasn't dreaming, I did all of the things that you do to make sure you're awake. I pinched myself and I felt my hair to make sure the rollers were still there. I looked out the window and I could see the street light and when I looked back to the bookcase the small figure was still there. I call it a "he", he just stood there. I couldn't make out a face or anything but I do remember thinking that he had on shorts and a pea green colored shirt. He just stood there for what seemed like forever.

Keep in mind I was only 6 years old but I still remember everything clearly still to this day and I'm now 29. I pulled the covers over my head in an attempt to wish it away I guess but when I pulled them down he was still there. I thought about running out of the room but he was between me and the door and there was no way I was going to be that close to things!. I really don't remember when he left I guess I must have fallen asleep for a few minutes because when I looked at the bookcase again he was gone. At that point I started screaming. I would have screamed sooner but I was afraid that he would get me before my parents could. When my mom came in the room she knew I was afraid and she did all of the things that she thought would make me feel better but the only thing that worked was letting me sleep in the room with them, which is where I stayed for about a month. Right next to their bed on the floor. When I finally decided to sleep alone again I went to My room, not the guest room and every night we had to check underneath everything before I would go to sleep and I slept with a night light ,well actually a lamp, on until I was probably 13. Later on my parents got a waterbed for that room and I went and lay on it for a few minutes and I guess I fell asleep. I woke up and I swear I heard laughing coming from the room. I jumped up and ran like a mad person out of there. My parents were sitting in the den watching TV and they weren't laughing and neither was the TV.

After that experience I avoided that room until my parents moved from that house last year. I always felt like someone was watching me in there and I didn't like that feeling.

Well, that is my story...It may not be as interesting as some of the others but It is true and I will carry it with me for the rest of my life. I do believe in ghosts and aliens but I really don't want to see any.
