Haunted Memories

Okay, I'm back again with another story. Actually, a few of them, concerning the house I live in now with my fiance and son.
This house was no exception to all the others I've lived in. It would seem I have a knack, as it were, of finding myself living in a haunted house. My first experience came shortly after I moved in with my fiance. The way the house is arranged is like this. When you walk through the front door, you enter the living room. On the opposite wall, and to the left, is the doorway to the bedroom. On the right wall of the living room is a doorway to a tiny hallway. If you are facing this doorway, you also face another door, going the the basement. To your immediate right of the hallway door is the bathroom door. And, finally, to the left down the hallway is the kitchen.
One day, my fiance was looking for one of his tools. He couldn't find, and so decided to check in the basement (by the way, the basement door opens outward, blocking the bathroom door). I had to go to the bathroom, so I just slightly closed the basement door, to give myself some room. I had finished my business, and started to open the door. The odd thing was, it felt like someone was opening it from the other side. Judging from the noises I heard coming from the basement, I knew my fiance was still down there. But, I almost lost my grip on the knob because of the force. How could that be? After he couldn't find what he was looking for, my fiance quit his search and came upstairs. That's when he noticed the odd look on my face. I told him what had just happened. He just shrugged it off like most men do.
Later that same day, we were in the bedroom, talking. I was laying on my stomach at the foot of the bed, when I felt the pressure of an animal, such as a cat, jump onto the bed. I looked behind me, expecting to see the cat. That's when I realized we didn't even have a cat yet!! I told my fiance, and he just joked about us having a ghost cat in the house.
This next experience happened when my son was just six months old. It was about 1:30-2:00 p.m., and I was getting my little boy ready for a nap. That's when I *felt* someone come up behind me. My son looked around me towards the doorway, giggling. I thought maybe it was my fiance trying to scare me or something, so I turned around. To my amazement, there was no one there. I looked around the corner of the door into the next room, and my fiance was fast asleep on the couch. What's going on? I asked myself. The feeling of someone sneaking up on me was so strong, I could have almost smelled the person!! I just chalked up to overactive imagination (always had one).
These last two experiences happened recently, one this past weekend, the other just this morning. My son is now 14 months old. He and I were in the living room, playing with his toys. I was sitting on the couch and felt someone staring at me. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my fiance's head and hand in the bedroom doorway. I turned to look at him, and about jumped clean out of my skin. He wasn't there. It took a split second for me to see him with my peripheral vision then look directly at him. That's when I heard my fiance gently snoring in the bedroom. That experience alone was the one that gave me the willies.
Now, for the most recent. Last night, after dinner, I accidentally fell asleep on the couch, exhausted to no end. I woke up around 1:30 in the morning, remembering that I had to wash the dinner dishes. So, I got up and went into the kitchen. I took off my watch and four rings. After I filled up the sink with water and dishes, I turned towards the table, only to find one of my rings missing. It just so happened to be my favorite one too. Just a simple brown tiger-eye in a gold setting. I said, "All right, whoever has my ring better give it back, and now." I turned to do the dishes. When I finished, the ring was still missing. That's when I told whoever or whatever to give me my ring back again, but I would give it until tomorrow morning (this morning). My fiance had woken up a short while earlier, and so I kissed him good-night and went to bed. On the way, I lit a cigarette with his lighter, which was on the coffee table. I hadn't noticed anything odd... yet.
I got up at my usual time, about 6:00 a.m. By 6:30, I was dressed and went to the living room, waiting for my fiance to finish his bath. That's when I noticed something on the coffee table. It was my missing ring!! I knew I took it off in the kitchen, because I always take my rings off at the same time. But, why would it end up in the living room? Because, I've learned from lots of previous experience that with unseen housemates, they never put things back where they got them.
Just one last thing to add before I end this. I've learned to accept what has been going on, and I hope and pray that is only my fiance's father coming to see his only grandson. My son has reacted strangely quite often. Well, thank you for your time. Happy reading!!!
