In Loving Hands

Arizona, USA
October 1998

This is a true story that happened to my family in 1964 (before I was born).

It all started with my Grandma-great. She was very old and very sick. In fact she had been in a coma, which the doctors said she would not come out of.

My parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents all took turns in sitting with her in the hospital so she wouldn't be alone when she passed on. They would talk to her and tell her that she was loved very much. At the time, my mother was 3 months pregnant and my parents already had 3 daughters, so they were trying to have a boy.

One night, my parents were at my Grandma-great's bed, when all of a sudden she sat up. She was cradling something in her hands and humming. My mother asked, "Grandma-great, what are you doing?" She said, "I'm rocking your baby, but he's so very tiny, so small and beautiful." Then Grandma-great laid back and died.

My parents didn't understand what had just happening. My mother had just found out she was pregnant a month before and Grandma-great had already been in the coma. How could she have known about the baby?

Well, Grandma-great was put to rest.

About 3 months later, my parents were at a car race when my mother went into premature labour. She had a baby boy who weighed 1 lb. 2 ozs. He lived for 2 hours and then passed on. My father said he was just as Grandma-great said, "so very tiny, so small and beautiful".

We believe he is with Grandma-great and is in the most loving hands.
