My Best Friend

I haven't been able to talk to too many people about this, but I will come forward and share my story with the world.

I moved to a small town when I was about 4 years old. My next door neighbor was the same age and his mother brought him over so we could play.

Over the years we became the bestest of friends. We went to school for the first time together, we went to Jr. High together, High School, College, everything. We've been through thick and thin but we've always been there for each other.

One day my boyfriend had broken up with me and it broke my heart, but who was there to comfort me? Josh, my best friend.

One day Josh had gotten into a car accident on a lonely road, he was trying to dodge a deer, but hit a tree instead. He passed away a few hours later, I was devastated. I cried all night that night when I found out the news.

The next night I had gotten home from work and it was about 10:00pm. I opened the refrigerator to find something to eat. I grabbed a coke and made a sandwich. After I sat down at the table, I saw a shadowy figure move down the hallway (the dining room was in the middle of the house, so when you were sitting in the chair I sat in regularly, you face the hallway). I thought it was my imagination and took a sip of my coke.

I was still thinking about what had happened and it made me all teary. All of a sudden, I felt complete overwhelming relaxation as if someone was comforting me and telling me it was alright. It felt like Josh.

I sat up and started to walk in the hallway to make my way into the bathroom for some Kleenex. As I set my right foot in the beginning of the hallway, a cold chill ran through my body as if I walked right through somebody. I looked up and saw him, it was Josh standing at the end of the hallway looking at me.

I was startled to find someone standing there at first, but when I noticed it was Josh, everything was suddenly OK. I looked into his eyes for a few seconds and saw that he was telling me, "Everything is going to be alright, I will always be with you..." Suddenly he disappeared and I cried all over again.

Till this day, it's like Josh has been saving everything. My cat got very sick and was going to die, the vet told me that she had lived through the surgery that most animals don't survive through with what her condition was. My aunt had a disease and was going to die, she was told that she only had a couple weeks to live, 6 months later she's as healthy as ever. Lots of things like that were going on, but it was like everything was all of a sudden OK again. I know Josh is helping my family, and me. And I greatly forever love and cherish him for the rest of my life. For when I die, I know we'll come together again and be reunited, together we can save more lives with the power he had.
