Mysterious Noises From The Living Room

It happened when I was 8 years old, in a house we had just moved into. I get the chills every time I talk about it....

Well it happened like this one night when I was laying in my bed trying to get to sleep. I heard the rocking chair in the living room. I thought it was my mom putting my sister to sleep so I decided to go and tell her goodnight. Well..when I got there, the rocking chair was rocking back and forth by itself. Shocked by this I ran to my parents bedroom and when I tried to open the door, it was locked. So then I ran back to my room and turned on the light, caught my breath and thought to myself that maybe my mom was on it a few minutes ago and that it was still rocking..I could still hear it. I went back and looked, still rocking the way it was. This time when I ran to my parents room I knocked and screamed for my mom, the light was on so I thought that she would still be up. She didn't answer so I ran back to my room and locked the door. I got into bed and just laid there scared and worried. All of a sudden the door knob turns, I call out"Mom?" but there's no answer and the knob turns again. I felt an ugly chill throughout my whole body..then..it started knocking on the door.I yelled "who is it?!" No one answered. Not only was there knocking on the door but I also heard it on the wall alongside the door. I started crying and screaming my loudest..but no one heard me. I started praying and asking for "it" to go away..the knocking continued, but I just closed my eyes and fell asleep.

When I woke up the next day I knew it wasn't a dream, for the light was on and the door was locked. I asked my mom if she was still up when her light was on and she said she was. But she didn't hear me. I told her what happened but she just said I was probably dreaming. Now that I'm older, she told me that she believes what happened was real, she just didn't want me to be scared.
