Noises

When I was in high school I had my best friend spend the night. We did our usual girls stuff that night and then when it hit about 12:00 we all went to bed. My brother slept on the couch because his room was very hot and the air conditioner was above the couch. My stepfather was in his room sleeping which was across from me. My friend friend and I lay in bed trying to go to sleep. I thought she was asleep and I was having a hard time going to sleep. See recently to this experience my mother died. I was lying in bed thinking when all of a sudden I heard the front door open and then some pots and pans clang in the kitchen. I just lay very still in my bed and finally went to sleep. When I woke up the next morning I was the first one up. I got up to check out what might have caused the noise the night before. For one the front door was closed but yet I never heard it close the night before when you would hear because you had to slam it to shut it. And everything was in order in the kitchen. I think it was my mother just keeping an eye on things in her house and making sure things stayed in order. You may not believe me and it may sound weird but I know what I heard and my friend admits to hearing it and so does my stepfather, but my brother doesn't remember anything. He slept through the whole ordeal even being the closest to it happening.
