Old Milton School

About 6 years ago I had the opportunity to stay the night at my horse riding instructors house in preparation for the competition the next day.

The particular house is one of the oldest buildings in Milton, on the south coast of NSW in the outskirts of town. It was the original school in the area and is accompanied by a cemetery that contains the remains of approximately 5 young children and 3 adults dating back to the late 1880's.

The night I stayed over it was a very still night and we were up late cleaning our gear. We were in the back room of the house, sitting on the floor facing the rear of the house. There are a lot of doors through the hallways and we were used to them slamming shut and opening all the time, we just made jokes about ghosts doing it, but this time, I looked up for some reason and standing in the doorway was the figure of a young girl, who looked about 5 years of age with long hair and was dressed in a nightgown. She didn't stay long, but it was long enough to silence both of us! We looked at the graves the next morning and from what we could tell it was the spirit of one of the children buried there, according to the age we thought she was. That was one of many scary nights at the old schoolhouse, there were many dares to go to the old graveyard at nighttime, but not many people got much further than the back fence before they were overwhelmed with fear and ran back to the house!
