Running Scared

Hi! This is not my story, but one my mother had related to me many times when I was younger.
My Mother is a very strong willed person, and as far as I can tell, she has never been one to scare easily. So to hear this story from her kinda creeped me out. This story involves an older home. It belonged to my great- grandmother.
During World War 1, great-grandma had gotten very ill. She was so ill, that she could not care for herself and was bed ridden. Great-grandmas house was an old house on, at that time, a working farm. Her bedroom was right off the kitchen so she could be first up to get everyone else going for the day.
Women in that day were stay at home Moms, who in my estimation, worked much harder than most of us do now.
Great grandma did everything on the farm, not just cook and clean, so for her to be bed-ridden meant that she was not long for this world.
At the time, one of her sons, my mothers uncle, was in France. It was WW1, after all. Grandmas only wish was to see her son again before she died. The Family decided to write to the White House a detailed request of a dying woman. The letter was answered, and great grandma was told that her son would be coming home and when he would arrive.
As soon as she heard that her son was coming home, great grandma got out of bed, dressed herself and made dinner. She served that dinner to her son, eating nothing herself. She spent hours talking with him, after not seeing him for so long. It was late in the evening, way after midnight, when great grandma said she needed to go to bed, so she could be up early in the morning to make breakfast for everyone.
Great grandma never got out of bed again. Soon after going to be that night, she died in her sleep. She had got her dying wish, to see her son again.
My mother, who had heard from her mother, about what had happened that night, could never bring herself to be in that room for more than a few seconds. With a door off the kitchen and one leading to the bedroom at the back of the house, anytime my mother had to go into that room, she was at a dead out run by the time she hit the next door. I know, not really scary. But is that all in my mothers mind?, and did she actually feel anything in this room? I have not been there for many years, but I don't remember ever feeling creeped out by this house. I would live in it today if I could.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
