The Attic 3

Illinois, USA
October 1998

Ihave always been somewhat skeptical of ghost, spirits, the supernatural until the fall of 1980 when I lived in the city of St. Louis Mo.

I was enrolled in a union school for the Railroad and I had 3 roommates that was also enrolled in various education programs. We lived on the 2nd floor of a building on the corner of Gravois and Lynch.

We rented the entire floor and we also had access to half of the attic. The other half was another apartment. We stored alot of junk in the attic but whenever I was there I felt very uncomfortable and couldn't wait to get out of there. My roommates thought I was nuts and teased me to no end.

One day I had to go up there by myself to store some junk. Afterwards when I was walking toward the stairs I felt as if someone was following me. I turned around and nothing was there so I continued down the stairs. I took a couple of steps and stopped. Then something strange happened, I heard footsteps behind me and they stopped. Needless to say I ran as fast as I could and didn't turn back. I didn't say a word to my roommates because they would have just laughed at me.

2 weeks later during the middle of the night I heard this screaming, I was asleep on the couch. It was my roommate and he was running through the apartment toward the front door and then ran down the hallway toward the steps to the attic. Another one of my roommates chased after him and caught him before he went up the steps .... and then he woke up. He explained that he was dreaming that he was in the basement and these two dark circles like black holes were chasing him and he knew if they got to him he was going to fall thru them. So he ran up the stairs to get away. I found that it was odd that he was running up to the attic. My roommate was clearly shaken by this nightmare.

His sister did a search on the previous owners of the building and found that a lady that once lived there was a believer in the occult and eventually went insane and was admitted into a mental hospital.

The previous tenants said that they had nightmares almost nightly...and at times they felt as if they were levitating above there beds.

Now I couldn't tell you that the place was haunted for sure. But the place made all of us believers in the supernatural after living there.........
