The Bogeyman

I swear on my baby boy's life that this experience is true.

On Christmas Eve one night, it was almost midnight and I woke up for no reason. I was 14 at the time and had grown out of the habit of waking up in the middle of the night by now. I walked across the landing. I didn't know why. I had no intention of going to the toilet, I just felt like I had to get out of bed. My legs moved me of their own accord to our spare room. I had always been a bit afraid of this room. It was always cold. Well as I entered the room, I saw a dark greenish/black shadow flash past the window. I shivered. I didn't want to go any further. It was seriously freaking me out. I was terrified as I spotted something on the bed. After I regained control of my legs I cautiously walked over to the double bed. I'd never actually been this far into the spare room. Mum and Dad did all the cleaning in here. I always refused.

On the bed there were faint hand prints on there, as if someone had put pressure onto the bed with their hands. There were also really dark green trails of slime all across the bed. I didn't believe in the bogeyman. I knew he was just a story parents told to scare little kids. But this seriously freaked me out. Due to closer inspection (which involved poking and prodding it and getting my hands all slimy), it turned out that it was a trail leading from the hand marks to under the bed! I heard a low growl and ran faster than my legs could carry me on a normal night. But tonight wasn't normal. I ran so fast everything became a blur and I didn't even know where I was going. The next thing I knew, I was outside on the front lawn. That night was one night I would never forget.

The next morning, even though it was Christmas Day, I couldn't stop thinking about the Bogeyman. Was it all a dream? No. I found green slime on my hands. Was it the Bogeyman or my sister playing a trick? I think, the Bogeyman. I was so petrified (and tired) that I couldn't even enjoy any of my presents that day. When Mum asked me what was wrong some memories came flooding back to me that I didn't know I had the previous night. I then realised why I'd needed to go to the spare room. It was the room my mum usually slept in. I must have thought it was nearly 12 noon and gone to wake her up. But what had happened to them last night. I asked Mum. She said, "Well, I felt really ill last night, and we went for a check-up. It turns out I'm pregnant!"
But as she said those joyful words I swear as I said, on my baby's life, that I saw the words, "YOU KNOW TOO MUCH" on her back, but then it vanished...

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. It is entirely true and, having read the other stories on this site, I realise I am not the only person to have experienced scary things, and I am not at all crazy.
