The Boy In The Plant And Other Things
Roxann, PA, USA
I live in a small town in rural Pennsylvania, in a house that was built in 1913. I've lived here in the same house my whole life, and my whole life I've been having experiences here.
Although I've many, many experiences, the most intense happened when I was young.
When I was around 3-4 years old, I shared a room with my mom because, for some reason or another, I never stayed by myself through the entire night and always ended up in her room by morning. So we began sharing.
Although I was so young, I clearly remember waking up in the middle of the night and seeing shadow people in the room. I remember seeing 5 people: 2 male and 3 female. There was really no way of knowing which sex they were, but somehow I just knew. The male shadows always seemed centered on me, standing and moving around my bed, while the females stood on the other side of the room, observing. The only way I can describe it, looking back on the experience, was like being the center of an alien abduction. But it was never a malicious experience; in fact, I was always happy when they came. It felt like whatever they were that they liked me and enjoyed interacting with me.
I have no idea of how many times it happened; it may have been one night or many nights. I just know that it was around the time. I started school that year and I didn't see them anymore.
The only time I had a bad experience with the shadow people was one night when I was in bed before my mom. She reports that I started screaming for her and when she came in I started yelling about "the little boy in the plant!" The only thing I recall about this was seeing a small, dark shape standing behind the palm by the window, staring through the leaves at me. Whether this figure had anything to do with the 5 others, I don't know.
I think it was after I started school that I developed my intense fear of the dark. Every night I would leave my bedroom door open so the hall light would shine into my room, and I would play classical music to fall asleep to. When my grandmother came upstairs to go to bed she would shut the hall light off, and of course once the cassette was finished playing it would shut itself off. So if I woke up in the middle of the night, it would be fairly dark with only the streetlight faintly coming through the window, and completely silent.
One night when I was 9, I woke up in the middle of the night. I didn't know why I woke up, but it soon became apparent. Standing in my open doorway was a tall, white, misty human figure. It just stood there. I was scared out of my mind. I reached up quickly and turned the light on, and it disappeared. After a moments hesitation I ran into my mom's room and refused to leave. Whatever it was came back the next 2 nights. The 2nd night it seemed to be marching in place in my doorway, the 3rd night it was standing on the staircase (which is directly to the right of my open door) leaning in and looking at me. After those three nights I never saw it again.
To this day I cannot sleep with my door open, and having my door open at any time, day or night, makes me nervous. I haven't seen any physical manifestations since then, and I hope I never do again.
I don't know what's causing these things to happen. Whatever it is, I believe it to be peaceful.
Despite the fright it caused me as a child, I now feel comfortable in this house and whatever happens seems to happen only to remind me that there is something here.
