The Demon Within

November 2002

To start off with, I need to let you all know that I see numerous spirits and things of the sort all the time, but I have never seen anything like this, and hope to God that I never do again.

I must start off by telling you a little about a very dear friend of mine. Her and I are always discussing the paranormal, and if it wasn't for her, I would still have no idea why this happened to me.

It was May of 2002 and I had been going through some extremely stressful situations in my life. I now believe I manifested this evil thing myself.

On this particular day, I had decided to leave work early, because I just needed some good old R&R. As I walked out of the building to get to the parking garage, a very terrifying feeling came over me, like the kind you get when you are alone in a dark alley at 2am. But I blew it off, this was 1pm, and it was a beautiful sunny day. It's about a 25 yard walk to get to the parking garage, and the closer I got to the garage, the slower I walked. I did not want to go in there, I had a bad feeling. As I stepped into the parking garage, I took off my sunglasses to let my eyes adjust to the dimmer light. I need to tell you all that the garage also has a basement you can park in. You have to walk past the basement steps to get to the upper levels. This particular day, I parked on level two.

Please also keep in mind, this all happened in a matter of a minute and a half, if that.

As I took off my glasses, I saw something near the basement steps. I was about 10 yards away, so I didn't think much of it, my eyes were still adjusting. As I walked closer, I realized there was, what looked like a man, lying on the floor. He was laying on his right cheek on top of his right arm, so I could see the left side of his face clearly. His lower body dangled down the stairs, so I couldn't see below his torso. It looked like he was sleeping. He was dressed in all black, except for his hand. It was just white in color.

From the moment I saw him, I knew he was there to hurt me. I get chills every time I think about his face. It definitely was not human, and truely the most horrifying thing I have ever seen. His face was black and red with horns and spikes coming out all over the place. There was only a distance of maybe 6 feet between us now. I was close enough for him to grab me. As I realized that, he began to growl. He sounded like a dog. I decided to turn to my right, and run up the stairs as fast as I could to get to my car. As I turned to run, I decided to not look back, but I couldn't help it. I felt it breathing on my neck, and as I turned to look over my left shoulder, he was still laying on the floor, sleeping. In a split second though, I turned around to run up the stairs, and there stands an African American boy, around 15 years old. He's dressed in all black, and he is holding an orange in his left hand. I couldn't help it at this point, I let out a scream. Out of the left corner of my eye, there lies a demon, and here before me stands someone else. At this point, I think I'm insane!!

The boy smiles at me and whispers, "I see him too, and I will not let him hurt you." I began to cry, and he proceeds to walk behind the right side of me, running his right hand across my shoulders. As he comes around to my left side, he walks down the stairs, past the demon, and the both of them disappear into a fog.

I called my friend as soon as I got home. When she answered, I burst into tears again, crying out her name. She knew before I could tell her, what had happened to me. All that she said was "Your demon is sleeping Candace, and you are strong enough to not let him hurt you. You just don't believe that you can do this right now, but Chris was there with you, to help you" It never dawned on me until then that Chris was my Angel. I am not sure why I didn't figure that one out right away. Like I said, I see apparitions all the time.

The next day, I parked on level two, but was so scared to walk down those same stairs. I made myself go down them, and as I did, I noticed an orange smashed in the corner of the stairwell. There was no demon, he was gone now. But I saw something in that same spot. I couldn't see it from where I was, so I walked closer to it. There was a hand print on the cement. I became so scared again, I thought I imagined the hand print.

When I was leaving work that day, another friend of mine parked next to me and walked out to the car with me. I didn't tell her what I saw the day before. As we walked past that spot, she stopped and said, "Hmmm, that looks like a hand print, how strange to see that there." I froze in my steps while she kept walking. I stared at the hand print for a long time, trying to convince myself that I was crazy. But too many other people saw it too. I have no idea if it was from the demon or not. All I know is, that I am so thankful that Chris was there to protect me.

This experience is no joke, although I wish it were. I now know, what true fear feels like.
