The Fire

Ok I know this is really corny but it is true.

My apartment building is a rather new renovated building. They rebuilt it finally after a fire burnt it throughout in 1993. I am a pretty new person there, and I hadn't heard many stories of the fire, but for some reason I had a feeling that my apartment was one that someone was killed in.

One night I was watching Nick-at-Night and I had fallen asleep on the couch but of course I set my tv on sleep timer. The last time I looked at the clock it was around 12:30am and after that I drifted off into dream land. Around 3:30 I was awakened with a chill running through my body. I thought I had kicked off my blanket, knowing I did that rather often, I checked around my waist and I was still as covered as I was when I feel asleep. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw something move across the room so looked to see if there was anything there, but there was nothing so I decided to get up and go to my room.

The next night I decided I would camp out in the living room and try to see if it would happen to me again, and of course I fell asleep and again around 3:30am I was awakened again but this time I could feel someone's hand on mine. I opened my eyes hoping I wouldn't see what was there, but there in front of me was a ghostly figure of an elderly woman. Her face looked so sad and gloomy but for some reason I was not scared. The way she looked made em feel so bad for her. She just stood there for a moment and went away just as fast as she appeared.

From that day forward I always felt as if she was with me. Every once in a while I'll still sleep in the living room just to see if I can catch another glance of this woman, but she never came back. I have come to the conclusion that she needed to say goodbye to someone and I just happened to be the one that was there. I will never be same because of this woman and I am happy she is finally at peace.
