The Ghosts of Morris Hall
New York, USA
March 1999
Right now I am attending the College of Saint Rose. I recently moved into a dorm called Morris Hall. This dorm used to be an old convent, and boy, is it creepy. Wrought iron gates and huge odd shaped windows didn't seem to be very housewarming. I do wish though, that they warned me beforehand about the spirits..but I guess its not included in the handbook.
The first night I moved in, I went to bed about 2 am. I woke up at 4 am to the sound of flute music. It was very faint, but also very discernable. Now, there are a couple of music majors that live in the building, but I really didn't think that they would be practicing at 4 am, especially when quiet hours were in effect. I got up and went out into the hall to see where it was coming from. But the minute I got out there, it stopped. So I'm thinking "ok I'm tired and I really don't want to deal with this". I go back to bed. The music started again. Don't get me wrong, it was very pretty, but it was uncomfortable to hear because it was just too darn creepy. It continued for the rest of the night but I finally went back to sleep. The next night, I was walking by the old chapel that is part of our common area. I wasn't really looking in there because I was late for class, but something caught my eye. When I looked into the room, there was an apparition of a priest standing there with his back to me. I froze. I didn't even breathe. He turned to look at me and then disappeared. I have never ran so fast in my life. I pounded on my RA's door blubbering like a baby. When I told him, he grabbed his stuffed cow and we both sat on the bed freaking out. I asked him if he had heard the flute music the night before and he said no. I got really freaked out then because I thought, "great, I got a ghost stalking me".
After the priest incident, the week passed uneventfully, although I was scared to even be in the bathroom by myself. The following Monday was when the real kicker got me. I was in my room, listening to Rob Zombie's Hillbilly Deluxe. Suddenly, my candle flew off the desk, hit my light, my light knocked over and came on, and my stereo went dead. Then I heard a whisper. It sounded like someone was saying, "turn it off". Well, I began to cry. And I said out loud, "please leave me alone, I'm scared!". And then everything went dead silent. It seems ever since I said that. Nothing happens anymore. I keep waiting for something to happen, but it doesn't.
I have to say I'm glad, because it was insane. Next time I'm going to find out more about the houses I choose to live in!
