The Old Woman (4)

Iused to live in this old house in Quenemo Kansas, when I was in between the ages of 6 and 9. The house was built in the 1920's, and I had always felt kinda creeped out about that house. I kept getting these feelings that I was never alone--anywhere.

One night I had my first, and only, experience in that house. I was sleeping and I had this feeling that somebody was watching me. When I opened my eyes, I looked over toward the wall in my room. What I saw there was something that would completely change my beliefs about the supernatural. There was an old woman standing by the wall. Her hair was white, her face was white and her dress was white and gray. This totally freaked me out, but I finally managed to fall asleep.

When I woke up the next morning, I decided to go over to my neighbor's house to tell her about it because I knew that she had lived there for a real long time. She told me that the old woman was one of her best friends. Her name was Elsie Patterson. She told me that one day in 1985, a bunch of old women were having a party just down the street from there. Everybody was wondering where Elsie was, so Fern, my neighbor, decided to go to Elsie's house to see what was taking so long. When she arrived, Fern knocked on the door a few times, but there was no answer. She went on in. Fern yelled out Elsie's name a few times, but there was no response. There was a pot of apple sauce cooking on the stove and Fern knew that it would be unlike Elsie to just leave the house with food cooking. Suddenly she looked into the dining room and there was Elsie, dead in her rocking chair. She is now buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quenemo.

After I got home I decided to tell my dad about what Fern had told me. He said that one night the same thing happened to him, except Elsie was standing in the doorway and he could only see the outline of her.

Another thing that happened with Elsie happened a little bit before then.

My dad's ex-girlfriend was over and she had brought her son with her. Anyways, he was upstairs playing when suddenly we all heard a real loud scream. We ran upstairs and he was sitting there looking really pale, as if he had seen a ghost. Well he wasn't hurt or anything, so we assumed, and still do, that he had seen Elsie. I hope you all enjoyed my story.

Thank you
