The Uggy Man

October 2006
When I was a little girl I used to live in an old house with my grandparents and my mom. The house was what my whole family described as evil. Very rarely would we have any guests over. Everyone who has set foot in the house wanted to walk back out.
In the house, depending on which room, there was an evil presence. My mother's room was right next to mine. Her room was the worst for the uncomfortable feeling.
I was about 2 years old at the time that my story takes place. I am now 18.
I was playing with my toys in my crib when I encountered a middle-aged man. He was dressed in a dark suit and sometimes wore an old fashioned hat. He had black hair with streaks of gray in it. Everyone could feel his presence, but I was the only one who could see him.
The man would come to talk to me on a regular basis. He did this for about a year to a year and a half. The man would sometimes follow me places like to a relative's house. I had told my grandmother and my mom about the man. My grandmother thought I had an imaginary friend while my mom started to get scared as I started seeing him more often.
One day he told me that he was going to take me with him. He asked me if I would like to come visit him at his house. He would constantly bring this subject up every day. I told my mom what the man had said. My mom was now utterly terrified. It was then that I started getting scared of the man. The conversations we had became very different from then on. I was so scared of him that I would tell him I couldn't talk or play with him that day just so he'd go away. He continued to ask me the same questions and I kept saying that I'd have to ask mommy or mommy said not today. Finally, he started to follow me everywhere.
My mom and I went to visit my aunt in Joelton, TN when I was three years old. The man followed me to her house. I told them that "the Uggy Man had followed me to the house." They got scared and asked the thing to leave me alone. He refused saying that he would take me with him and there was nothing they could do about it. Not knowing what else to do, my mom and aunt prayed that it would go away. After days of trying the man finally left.
It has been a long time now since I've been inside the house. It was sold to this foreign family after my grandfather had died in 1997. No one has gone back to the old house, but me.
I drove by there with my fianc? a couple of weeks ago. The house was in bad shape. It was run down and looked deserted. I cried at the sight of it and as I remembered the things that went on there. As much as I hate that house, I have wanted to go back inside of it to see if anything has changed. Now that I'm older, I want to find out what happened in that house a hundred years ago that made it such an evil place. I want to find out if it still feels the same. This story is completely true. It is from my point of view and not anyone else's.
